In case you have some downtime…

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is a lively environment full of culture, art, and recreation. The beautiful outdoor setting surrounding the museum, perfect for a walk, is one of our favorite experiences during our visits. The expansive lawn, sculpture, and garden create an inviting atmosphere for families and art enthusiasts of all ages.

Joe's KC BBQ

A KC staple and, we believe, a must eat place when you’re in the area. There are numerous locations but the 47th Ave features the original gas station. All serve the same menu but we frequent the Roe Ave location due to it’s proximity to home and Alexandria’s work. We highly recommend trying the “Z-Man” if you stop by for a meal.

McLain's Market

Get your fill of tasty pastries, coffee, and more at this local bakery chain. Alex’s personal favorites are the butter rolls and bacon meanwhile Matt enjoys a variety of the healthy breakfast bowl options.

KC Clay Guild

See where we met! It’s a great place to try your hand at pottery or find a community of friendly local artists.

The Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens

Here you can find beautiful outdoor landscapes year-round. Check out the train caboose featured in the Train Garden or the Monet Garden stylized after Claude-Monet’s paintings of bridges over ponds, waterlilies, and flowing trees.

Museum at Prairiefire

This is a fun little science museum featuring dinosaur bones, meteorites, and some live frogs! Don’t miss a unique photo opportunity outside in front of the colorful glass windows.
